Another successful family camping trip has come to an end and a good time was had by all. This years camping adventure included Canoing and Kayaking on Fallen Leaf Lake.
A hike to Angora Lake for Lemonade or Lemonade Popsicles, A trip to Tallac and Lake Tahoe, and a stop on the way home above Emerald Bay
Some highlights included Melanie and her new husband David joining us for their first Johnson Camping adventure.
Jan and Paul got to come down this year with Lacey and Micah all grown up.
One Bear visit. He loved the Chocolate chip cookies. We are all waiting to see the pictures Paul got. He was a big bear. Lacey nicknamed the camp ground squirrel Gus on our last day.. He was adorable and got a nice stash of almonds and carrot slices from us. Hopefully Jan will share some of the photos on her camera because I took lots of peoples pictures on hers and not on mine so I am lacking in photos of attendees.
Also of Note was the rain we had... Sprinkles and showers on Tuesday just enough to make it nice for canoing all day.
Sadly missed because they couldn't attend for various reasons were Amy and her new Husband Matt... Aaron and Julie, Kristina and her boyfriend Chris, Erika, Aubrey and Nathan.
On the last day of camping we all thought a return trip to Samuel P Taylor State Park for next years camping trip would be nice.
This was a very delightful camping trip, for lots of different reasons. The scenery was beautiful and there was a relaxed schedule of events. We were not hurrying from one activity to the next but rather went at a very leasurly pace. Even on the day that we packed up and headed out we were not in a big hurry.Everyone got to hike and boat and Ben got to do some fishing. Wendell got to do some photography. Sarah and Jane and I went on a hike. So here are some of the Scenes from around the camp. Some of these are from the second day of camping and some are from the last day but I decided to put them all here so you can see a little of the beauty we found there.
One of the lakes we canoed and kayacked at.
Some pink wild flowers located above our campsite.
Mules ears on the hill near Dave and Roses RV
A solitary pine on the ridge behind our campsite.
The stream Sarah, Jane, and I found on our hike that morning.
A differnet pine on another ridge.
Looking down on one of the lakes.
Early in the morning the water is smooth as glass.
Purple wild flowers.
The water fall Sarah and I found.
Jane leading Sarah and me home.
Indian paintbrush and Pine over near Dave and Roses' RV
These are not in the order of events. But here we all are after lunch, relaxing around this great little lake or pond, really. There was a girl scout camp on one end and regular picnic grounds on the other end where we were it was small enough you could walk around the perimiter in about 40 minutes.
Elta got a call. It is actually amazing she got reception as we were completely surrounded by rocks.
Aubrey and Kristina, Discussing matters of great importance. Who the latest greatest musical group is. or the latest fasion accessories.
Here is Kristina on her first trip out in the Kayack. It was really nice as we all got at least two rides in the kayack, and one or two in the canoe.
Dave and Rose soaking up the shade, the breezes and the ambviance.
Brian, resting after a run in the kayack and helping everyone in and out of the canoe and the kayack.
Here is Jane taking a nap after her big adventure. Sarah and I went for a ride in the canoe while Jane was sleeping. Well we were about halfway across the lake when Jane woke up, and realized Sarah was in the middle of the lake without her. She took off around the lake to rescue Sarah from the canoe.(not that Sarah needed rescuing, but we won't tell that to Jane). Brian of course followed Jane with her leash. It took Sarah and I about a minute to realize what was going on and so we started paddling for shore just ahead of Jane and calling her to catch her before she ran all the way around the lake. She saw us and then tried to get out to us. Brian caught up with her just when we got close to her. Jane got to climb in the canoe and go for her very first canoe ride. She loved it, because she was with Sarah and becuase she is such a fun loving puppy dog. Any way this is her after her big adventure resting by the lake!
Here is Aubrey catching some rays and some tunes.
And last but not least for this day we will end with one of the scrub jays who was busy trying to get into our food the whole time we were there.
Here are the intrepid three. cruising in the canoe. This was the maiden voyage for the canoe on this camping trip. as you can see they were all having a great time.
And here they come into shore. This year everyone took a turn at steering. It was fun and challenging.
Dad on his first ride in the Kayack. He of course got the hang of it fastest as he is such a sailor and seaman.
Ben hops in for a spin and does really well too.
Sarah taking her first ride. I had to lighten this so we could see Sarahs' face. (thats why it is a little hazy)
Here is one last shot of Dad cruising in the Kayack.
