Well the deed has been done. Bongo is definitely a boy and he has now had his shots and been sniped. Yes he is now a responsible kitty cat...
Now sit back and relax and hear the story...
So since I corralled Bongo in the spare room I have made repeated attempts to touch Bongo to no avail. Lets just say I am a big Chicken.... also after you try to touch him he hurls himself against the window in an attempt to escape. .Also he and Little one have been playing grabby paw under the door with each other and not in a loving lets play manner ... This is WAR> My carpet at the door is now pretty much shredded.
And for the first two days Bongo didn't go Pee.. and then he peed on a towel I had laid down on the floor... no where near the litter box. So I treked over to the vet that helped us with Darin figuring they had a smaller office and it would be less stressful for my little mostly feral cat. And Scheduled the operation for Monday morning figuring no amount of time was going to make it better for Bongo in fact the sooner we got the operation done the better for him. I warned them he was pretty feral and wouldn't let me touch him at all. they offered to board him over the weekend I said okay I may be back, if I can catch him. Leaving the office and arriving home I find a used litter box and a slightly calmer kitty.
So he gets to spend the weekend in my spare room . Hurling himself at the window at every opportunity. (actually usually in the evening)
Monday morning comes and my 45 minute ordeal to get Bongo Loaded into the carrier.
Okay picture this
Wait hang on let me go take a photo It is better that way.
Yep that is right full on winter gear and it is 85 out.
So I start by trying to get hold of Bongo ..
This was a mistake he ran in circles around the room
and flung himself at the window some more ... So I think okay block him out from under the bed so I start blockading the bed he crawls under there again .. So I let him and finish blocking it off and use a broom to shoo him out. HE gets out and I think okay I can get him now.. No he finds a way back under the bed. I rearrange the blockade only now he knows what I am up to, it takes fifteen minutes to get him out now.
He positions himself under the dressing table... I line up the carrier so he has to go into it then more blockading then I try to shove him into the carrier
Did you ever notice how an eight pound cat can be as strong as a 80 pound dog. He bit me! yep good thing I had on those Leather gloves .
So I get him into the carrier but can not get the door closed. He escapes and we begin again and this time he is not going in the carrier. I reposition and use a book (The making of Myst 2, it is big) to block him from any movement out and pretend the book is a steam shovel and keep pushing him further into the carrier... He is very very strong. finally he is in, the door is closed and I am exhausted, He is ready for round three.
We arrive at the vet I warn again about chompage and they say oh we will leave him in the carrier until operating time
The day goes by I arrive back at the vet and bring him home he is still woozy so I leave him in the carrier and pet him a little.. HE doesn't like it.
I let him out in an hour and he begins hurling himself at the window again only now he is not agile and is falling and banging around .. Back to the blockade under the bed.
He has to stay in one more day then he is free to go back outside.
He will be so happy. I hope in a year he will eventually let us touch him but for now I know he can't make more Bongos and has had his shots and hopefully won't be spraying my garage and back room.
Okay for those who may or may not be wondering, Bongo the little stray half feral kitty who has been hanging around and getting food at my house has been captured or in his mind catnapped!
Here is a quick update on happenings!
I have been feeding him once a day and getting him closer and closer to coming into the house in order to catch him... I know I could have done one of those cage things but we are going to try to tame him enough for getting to the vet..
Any way last week he finally made it into the house tentatively and he has started showing up at the back door in the mornings now for a bite of breakfast.
so last night I lured him in and he ate his food and then started to kind of nose around then out he went again.
This morning he showed up at the door and I let him in to get food and he ate that and could smell more food in the laundry room so he ventured in there to get more
I conveniently closed the sliding door effectively trapping him in the house... BIG MISTAKE! He then proceeded to go cat scared silly! Hurling himself at the sliding glass door frantically running back and forth jumping on the counters hoping to escape out the windows. Poor Poor little scared kitty.
I let him calm down and set up the spare room to be a kitty safe quiet place added food, water and litter box .. All the accoutrement's of home and then proceeded to try to pick up the kitty ! MISTAKE TWO.
Kitty goes crazy again.
HE can easily jump seven feet high by the way and found his way to the top of my blinds on the sliding glass door.
I am now shaking and sick at heart for Bongo because He has been getting closer and closer to me each time I feed him!.
I stop and let everyone calm down... I need a new plan of attack !
So I make sure all doors to every other room are closed and get the broom to encourage him off the blinds
HE goes down and starts again hurling himself at the sliding glass door to get out.
Finally as if he knows it is what I want he runs into the spare room I close the door on him and all is quiet. I will leave him in peace in there for the rest of the day and tonight I will attempt to go in and see if he is back to his cheerful self
I realize I need to do this, he needs to go to the vet and get his shots, check for a micro chip and get snipped if he isn't already, but I have seen no evidence of man cat parts yet so I think he has already been fixed. I am also certain he was someone else's pet before and that he has gotten lost. So I am hoping either to get him home to his family or make sure he is safe with us.
End results of our little ruckus; one cat locked in spare room, half of my plants in the dinning room are spilled on the floor and Bongo may never trust me again... Goes to call vet and set up appointment.

Checking out the yard for Humans... NO one's visable, but proceed with caution!
Kitty Food Found.... Danger may still be lurking... Keep a wary eye open!
Yes sir . That is right I have thumbs.
Bongo has been coming pretty regularly.W had a day when he didn't show up.
He comes when I call Bongo Kitty kitty kitty .. as I only call if I am putting out food.
Of course this means that now the chickens have fugured out that that means I am putting out cat food too. So this morning they all came running. I had to put his food up on a chair. HE found it immediately anyway and I will post a video later this evening. HE is still very skittery and I will probably put off trapping him for another two weeks and then catch him and get him snipped. And while he is recovering attempt to get him more used to humans.
I hope he has already been human handled because it will mean he will warm up to us. Other wise he will probably remain an outdoor cat with access to our back porch room and the barn for rainy days .. and hopefully an eventual acceptance of humans.
Well I tried to come up with some kind of cleaver song or poem but really my brain is just too tired..
Why you ask? Well it seems the company that has been hosting our email and our web pages is going out of business..
so I (lucky fool that I am) got the job of moving everything to the new company who isn't really as nice as the old company nor as inventive and a bunch of other bad words I could throw in.
Any way did you ever notice when you finally get through to the tech guys with a valid question that is not answered in all their help pages that they do NOT Listen to what you are saying... Okay to be fair a few of them do listen but not many so to sooth my brain which has been fried from thinking, calling, changing, and trying to find out why one of the emails I set up is just not acting correctly I am giving you some funny cat tech pictures from the cheezburger.
and for the email that is not working
And Finally how I felt at the end of the day
Urgggg!!!!!
Tomorrow will be a new day and a rainbow will shine over my head but for today my paw just could not reach the kitty treats by the end of the day.
Sometimes when you least expect it a new family member comes into your life.
Meet Bongo.(maybe.. if it is a boy)
This kitty has been hanging around for a while but lately has been around a lot more... It is skittery but cries at our windows and it lets me get reasonably close but not real close.
I started feeding it yesterday and got a few pictures.. It is a bit worse for wear but seems healthy if a bit skinny otherwise. I think it is about nine months old or so. And I think it is a boy but it doesn't have the male cat cry yet so either it is already fixed or I guess I will have to see the vet soon..
I do have a plan.. first get it used to me or as used as a half wild kitty can get.. then if it doesn't warm up to me soon I will need to get a trap.. IT cannot continue on with out getting fixed... I would like it to come to me rather than having to trap it but I am prepared for that possible out come.
Anyway we are only on day two so there is still a bit of time
This was last night when it came for food. today it wasn't as hungry so I will see how often I need to feed it. It is fatening up on mice and critters it catches in my yard too... the picture I took tonight didn't turn out very good.
Oh and if it is a girl kitty her name is going to be Bonita (it means beautiful in Spanish)
Well I stopped by the pound today to see how the pups were faring and to find out if they might just have been reunited with their family.
Apparently the owner called last night and is picking them up today.... ( you have to pick up during animal controls hours)
I didn't see the dogs but I could hear them calling to me.
They do live in my neighborhood just on a different street and I think on the far end becasue I know they don't belong to anyone on the end by us. Anyway I was so relieved to hear they were going home and I fully intend to take a walk this weekend and figure out where their house is. for future reference. well and to scratch some ears if they are viewable thru the fench though I am wondering if they live in the house with the big wall around it. That would explain why I had never seen them
I walk and Jog in my neighbor hood frequently which is why I know lots of my neighbors and recognize most of the dogs.
Anyway now my stint as dog rescuer has come to an end, Stay tuned for photos if I can of the dogs back home
Time 7 AM California, Star Date 2008 May 14... Place, a town in the middle of California.
Found Running down the side of a busy road
Two Australian Shepards...One with a collar, one with out.. No tags on either dog....
Encountered trying to help the dogs by capturing them
two High School students(rough and tumbled boys you wouldn't expect to stop and help)
and another Woman in her 30's on her way to work.
Why did I stop?
Becasue they were walking into a yard to get the dogs with a known vicious dog in our neighborhood.
I thought they might be their dogs and needed help corraling them.
Encountered Last a very nice very helpful Animal control Officer.
What happened next... I found out the dogs didn't belong to any of them, and since I had more time till I had to go to work and lived right around the corner, the dogs came home with me. We arrived at my house and I thought okay I will take a quick shower and leave the dogs in my car for easy transport to the animal control.
I finished my shower and dried my hair and dressed in a record 15 minutes. Then I called Animal control and left a message.... Things were not looking good. So I let the dogs out of the car putting them on my available leads. The dogs thought this was great fun... They got to go in the back yard to pee.. AHA one dog is a boy.
Next adventure... we go inside and get settled in the gargae with water and a bit of cat food stolen from the laundry room...
Animal control calls.. They can not pick the dogs up until soemtime between 10 and 12... right in the midst of my Spanish class.. So I decide to take them to Animal control myself after spanish class..
Next it is time to make everyone comfortable with more cat food .. Apparently this is extremely tastey to dogs.
I head off to work and school.. and arrive back at my house around 11 to take the dogs to animal control hopping that maybe they have the chips in them and a quick reunion with their family is emminent. One dog is delighterd to seem me the other one is completely sound asleep and not waking up... I start to panick it was pretty warm in the car for that 15 minutes they were in there. OMG is the dog okay?? I Walk over and touch the dog after calling and calling it. The dog bounds awake full of love, slobbers and jumps... AHA this dog is at least partially deaf.
Everyone is put on dog leads and I try to get them into the Subaru to go to the pound...apparently a Subaru is really not quite big enough to hold two Australian shepards when they are bouncing around.
Okay rule number 1... When you load other peoples dogs into your car always do it one dog at a time... This is crucial....
Rule 2.. Do not climb into the back seat to coax both dogs into the car with you... They will climb in with you and sit on you so you can not extract yourself.
Rule 3. Once you actually get your self out of the back seat and manage to close the door.. Do not climb immediately into the front seat and expect to drive off... The dogs now think you are playing some kind of great dog in the car game and then procede to try to get between you and the drivers side window and jump around on you and the front seat. All of this is done with great dog jovility and slobbers because some how you are now their best friend in the whole world.
Rule 4... Stop what you are trying to do and take one dog (the one jumping all over you out of the front seat) and put it in the way back end. close the hatch back and find that the dog is back in the front seat ready for another round of bounce on the driver...
Rule 5.. Remove the dog again to the back end and this time tie the dogs lead to one of the back seat head rests so the dog can not get to the front seat and head for Animal control with the air conditioning blasting.
We arrive at animal control and I leave the dogs in the car as I go meet the officer.. She is very very nice and comes to help me with the dogs. The dogs get the once over, She says one is a boy and one is a mama who had at least one set of babies .. Hard to tell with all that fur. She checks for chips. None are there, too bad they would all ready be home by now. ..I say I am going to call in the morning to see if they made it home she says ohhh I am sure they will only spend one night at the pound as they are obviously loved and well cared for. They are clean and friendly look well fed and are well groomed.
I leave a bit sad. they are beautiful dogs and I will let you know the out come.
By the way if you have pets Do please get them chipped. it is one of the fastest ways to get your beloved companion home with you..and accidents do happen and sometimes animals accidentlay get out of their yard and get lost.
And for all those concerned our town animal control works hand in hand with the local no klill shelter to get everyone placed in homes as soon as possilble.
I have compiled a list of ways to tell if your human loves you....I hope you have at least one item on my list.
1. They let you sleep on their puzzle, homework, dress pattern, instructions even while they are trying to work with it.
2. They let you pick out the goosey food you like! And they try to always buy it.
3. They let you in the bathroom with them just because they think you are cute.
4. They stay in bed in the morning an extra five minutes to cuddle with you because you want them to.
5. They take lots of pictures of you.
6 They talk to you and call you cutie pie or some such drivel.
7. When you want to play tag or spook the kitty, they always stop what they are doing to play with you.
8. They like it when you bump heads,
9. They let you in and out the door no matter how many times you go back and forth in the space of five minutes
10. They make room in the towel basket just so you can sleep in it
11. They stop what ever they are doing when ever you come into the room to pet scratch and cuddle you.
12. They write about you in your own blog! Even when they have homework to do.
As you can see I am one lucky cat
I Hope your Human LOVES you too.
